The Period 9 cycle is symbolised by the rising Phoenix, representing a 'Death Phase' of
transformation and completion, paving the way for rebirth, peace, and balance.
In Feng Shui, there are several diverse schools of different movements, each contributing to harmonious living. Like artists with unique palettes, Feng Shui consultants choose the school that resonates with them.
Traditional / Classical Feng Shui
1.📚 Form School Feng Shui (Xingshi Feng Shui): Form School Feng Shui, the oldest school and the basis of all schools, focuses on the physical features of the environment, such as the shapes of landforms and buildings. It emphasises the importance of natural elements like mountains and water and the orientation of structures in relation to these elements. In Feng Shui, experts mould spaces to enhance the flow of positive energy, or 'sheng chi,' while mitigating the effects of negative energy, or 'sha chi.'
2. 📚Compass School Feng Shui (Xingshi Feng Shui): Compass School Feng Shui, also known as Classical Feng Shui, revolves around precise measurements and calculations. Practitioners use tools like the Luo Pan compass to determine the most auspicious directions for various aspects of life, from sleeping to working.
3. 📚Flying Star Feng Shui (Xuan Kong Fei Xing): Flying Star Feng Shui is a more complex and mathematical school and an advanced practice that assigns numerical values to stars that shift annually. These stars represent different energies affecting space. Trained experts make calculations to harness auspicious stars while neutralising inauspicious ones.
4. 📚Eight Mansions Feng Shui (Ba Zhai or Eight House Feng Shui): This school divides people into eight different categories based on their Kua number (determined by birthdate and gender). Each category has favourable and unfavourable directions, and Feng Shui adjustments are made accordingly.
5. 📚 Five Element Feng Shui (Wu Xing Feng Shui): This school is based on the concept of the five elements (wood, fire, earth, metal, and water) and their interactions. Five Elements Feng Shui assesses the elemental composition of a space, including colours, shapes, materials, and objects. By understanding the dominant elements in a particular environment, practitioners can make recommendations to enhance or mitigate specific energies to promote harmony and positive energy flow using one of two cycles in the natural world:
1.) Destructive elemental cycle
2.) Weakening elemental cycle
Modern School of Feng Shui
There are many modern sects of Feng Shui based on the 19th-century Spiritualist Movement (e.g., Black Hat Sect, Pyramid, Intuitive Feng Shui, etc.). These groups apply Feng Shui to more modern interests, such as self-help techniques, interior design and environmental psychology.
1.📚 Black Hat Sect Feng Shui (BTB Feng Shui): The Black Hat Sect Feng Shui, a new-age school, emerged in the United States in the 1980s. It blends traditional Feng Shui principles with a focus on the Bagua, a map of life areas, to analyse living spaces. Black Hat Sect has a solid spiritual and metaphysical focus, emphasising the importance of intentions, prayers, and rituals.
2. 📚Intuitive Feng Shui: Intuitive Feng Shui is where practitioners tap into their inner wisdom and intuition. Intuitive Feng Shui encourages personal connections with spaces, allowing individuals to sense energy flow and adjust accordingly. It's like painting a canvas of energy with the colours of intuition and intention.
3. 📚Western Feng Shui: Western Feng Shui has found a home in modern design and interior decorating that incorporates Feng Shui principles into architecture and interior design, making harmony accessible to a global audience.
My practice focuses on all elements of Classical / Traditional Feng Shui and I include some intuitive and logical Feng Shui.
